An eight-time Emmy Award winner and an Alfred I. Dupont Award recipient, Matt Meagher continues to bring his trademark tradition of excellence to Inside Edition's investigative unit. Known for a tough, aggressive style, Meagher has been with Inside Edition since its debut in 1989.
Meagher travels the globe uncovering consumer scams and exposing safety issues as well as reporting from the hot spots of the world. He has reported from Lebanon, Israel, Afghanistan and Iraq.
During the 2006-2007 season, in a shocking hidden camera report, he documented how many desperate New Orleans residents have been victimized twice- once by Hurricane Katrina and again by unscrupulous contractors who took almost all of their insurance money and then did little or nothing in the way of home repairs.
His hard-hitting investigative reports result in action. In 2007, a report on the unchecked flow of alcohol onboard cruise ships prompted one cruise line to re-examine its alcohol policies, including retraining its employees and raising the age of passengers allowed to buy alcohol.
Following a report on the illegal sale of prescription drugs to American teens visiting Mexico, Meagher was asked to testify before Congress.
In addition to his award-winning consumer and investigative reports, Meagher is often tapped by Inside Edition to cover affairs of state. He was dispatched to Rome to cover the funeral of Pope John Paul II, covered the 2004 Democratic convention in Boston and was embedded with the US Marines during the invasion of Iraq.
Meagher's work for Inside Edition has earned him many prestigious honors, including the George Polk Award, National Headliner Awards, an Overseas Press Club Citation, Deadline Club Awards and Sigma Delta Chi Awards.
Before coming to Inside Edition in 1989, Meagher was an investigative reporter at local network affiliates in Tampa, St. Louis and Boston.
