The body of Theresa Lockhart, who was reported missing more than five months ago, was found in Michigan on Tuesday.
The body of a Michigan teacher who disappeared several months ago was found this week with the help of her husband's suicide note.
Christopher Lockhart was found dead of an apparent suicide on Tuesday. With his body, officers say they found a note in which he confessed to killing his wife and leaving her body in the state game area.
Theresa Lockhart was last seen May 18 and her husband was the main person of interest in the investigation of her disappearance.
Police said Lockhart refused to speak with them about the case and never participated in any searches for her, according to local reports, though he told WOOD in June that he had nothing to do with his wife's disappearance.
Mr. Lockhart’s body was discovered in the basement of his home by officers who were conducting a welfare check after he had missed a parole appointment.
Authorities say an autopsy found that he had died of strangulation.
In his note, Lockhart reportedly wrote that he and his wife had argued and he snapped. A hand-drawn map pointed police to the location of her body.
