Cardi B turned herself in to New York City police Monday morning in connection with an assault on two bartenders at a strip club.
The rapper covered her face with a large umbrella and did not answer reporters' questions as she arrived at the Flushing precinct in Queens just before 10 a.m.
She was charged with two misdemeanors and will appear in court on Oct. 29. She smiled and waved as she emerged from the precinct, flanked by bodyguards.
The incident unfolded at Angels Strip Club at about 3 a.m. on Aug. 29 when police say the rapper and her entourage got into an argument with an employee, The Associated Press reported.
Chairs and bottles were thrown, and two female bartenders were struck. They suffered minor injuries but did not receive medical attention.
It was reported the melee may have been the result of a romantic dispute over Cardi B's husband, Offset.
It is not yet clear what role, if any, Cardi B played in the brawl. Police have not yet said she was directly involved in the fight but she is being questioned.
"Cardi is heading down to the precinct to claim her name and innocence," a source told Page Six.
Cardi B, who is from the Bronx, was also in the news last month for allegedly fighting with Nicki Minaj.
They were attending the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party at the Plaza Hotel during New York Fashion Week when Cardi B appeared to go after the “Chun-Li” rapper and at one point hurled a shoe. Cardi B was escorted from the hotel.
Neither party pressed charges.
