INSIDE EDITION takes a look at the new sensation that will be hitting the beach this summer—the fatkini—a bikini for plus-sized women.
They're the bikini babes everyone will be talking about this summer: plus sized women proving you don't have to be a size two to wear a two-piece.
New bikinis called “Fatkinis” are already sold-out on the website, swimsuitsforall.com.
Kelly Augustine said, "This bikini was so hard to get. Within minutes it was sold out."
The swimsuit company was taken aback by the overwhelming demand, and now some people who ordered the galaxy-print fatkini won't receive one. The website had to refund their money.
But some ladies got their hands on the two-piece.
Augustine said, “This is the first time I ever put on a bikini."
And they're not complaining about the nickname, fatkini.
One woman said, “Yeah, so I’m fat, so what? I’m still beautiful, I’m still stylish."
The fashion industry may finally be listening. H&M recently used a curvy beauty to model a new swimsuit line, prompting the headline, “Is This the End of the Skinny Girl?”
The majority of American women are a size 14 or larger. They don't fit into skimpy bikinis, but they're also tired of matronly-looking swim dresses.
Another woman said, "It's proof right there that we need more of these options. Any business would be smart to do something like this."
Call them curvy and proud and ready for the beach!
