Nearly a year after his tragic accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, Tracy Morgan is speaking about the horrific events of that night.
Tears flowed as Tracy Morgan spoke for the first time about the horrific crash that almost cost him his life.
The 30 Rock star sat down for a live interview with the Today show's Matt Lauer.
He said, “As you can see there are scars on my head. There are times when I have my good days and my bad days. I forget things. There are times when I get headaches and nosebleeds.”
Lauer asked, “What has the last year been like emotionally?”
‘I've been down, but I have my my family, I have my wife, Megan, we are about to be married, and my daughter and my son, so they keep my spirits up,” he said.

A Walmart truck on the New Jersey Turnpike collided with Morgan’s limo bus last June. Fellow comic James McNair was killed in the crash.
Morgan choked up as he remembered his friend, saying, “He was a good man and it just hurts me to see that he's gone.”
Lauer asked, “When did you find out he had died in the crash?”
“Two weeks later, after I came out of the coma. My lady told me, we put Jimmy to rest,” he said.
It was clear from his appearance that Morgan still faces many months of physical rehabilitation.
He also choked up as he spoke about one of his nurses, a woman he knew as Nurse Jackie.
Morgan said, “When I first came out of the coma I was a mess. I would curse her out every day, I would throw things at her. And the only thing she would say to me is, ‘Everything is going to be all right.’”
Morgan said once he was in better shape he got the chance to make it up to the nurse.
“When I got off the elevator, I saw all these faces coming to me that I remembered. And guess who was came around the corner? Nurse Jackie. And I just grabbed her and I wouldn't let her go and I said, ‘I’m sorry. I'm sorry.’ She said, ‘I told you everything was going to be all right,’” he said.
Nurse Jackie Chirichella RN, spoke to INSIDE EDITION’s Megan Alexander.
She said, “It was very touching. Very emotional for both of us.”
Dr. Brian Greenwald, Morgan’s brain-injury specialist also spoke to Megan Alexander at The JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, New Jersey, where Morgan spent weeks recovering.
“He was very strong both physically and his whole demeanor. He tried to fight and he fought. He fought to get better,” she said.
Dr. Greenwald said, “It was nice to see him thank people but it was nice for him to be out there again. I know this was a big victory for him.”

Morgan just reached a settlement with Walmart, a deal that he says is fair to McNair's survivors.
“I'm just really happy they looked after Jimmy Mac's family. Now, my friend can rest in peace now,” he said.
And he ended with a promise, “I love comedy and I will never stop loving her. I love comedy and I can't wait to get back to her. Right now, my goal is just to heal and get better because I am not 100%. I'm not. When I am there, you'll know. I'll get back to making you laugh. I promise you."
