Justin Bieber was shaken up by a scuffle that took place at his appearance in New York for the launch of his new fragrance for women. INSIDE EDTION has the scoop.
Thousands of Justin Bieber fans whipped themselves into a frenzy, and a fight broke out. Fists flew as cops leap over barricades to stop the fray.
It happened outside Macy's department store in New York City. Bieber was launching his new fragrance line, but when the 17-year-old heartthrob unexpectedly walked over to the barricade to greet his fans, mayhem ensued.
A scuffle broke out when a plain clothes policeman tried to get Bieber to return to the safety of Macy's.
Bieber's bodyguard mistook the plainclothes cop for a crazy fan and swung into action. That's when other cops lept over the barricade. Police wrestled the body guard to the ground.
This isn't the first time a Bieber appearance has led to chaos.
During a performance in Australia, thousands of teenage girls mobbed a morning show concert at 5 a.m. The performance had to be canceled and dozens of hyperventilating girls were taken away on stretchers.
And Bieber got beaned in the head with a waterbottle during a concert last summer.
As for the scuffle at Macy's, his team calls it "a momentary, well-intentioned misunderstanding."
Bieber tweeted, "Today went well at Macy's. The fans were amazing."
Meanwhile, another teen idol, Miley Cyrus, had her own problems with crazed fans.
During a concert today in Australia, an overzealous girl got on stage, ran up and put her arm around Cyrus. Security stepped in and nabbed the fan, then rushed Cyrus offstage.
