After being disqualified from competing in the Miss Universe Pageant for being born a male, transgendered contestant Jenna Talackova will now be allowed back in the competition. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.
Donald Trump is speaking out about the surprising decision to let a woman—who used to be a man—compete in the Miss Universe Pageant. INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent caught up with him as he was promoting Celebrity Apprentice.
Trent said, "Tell us about the decision to allow the transgendered contestant to compete."
"Well, it was a very complex decision and what we decided to do, and what we always do, is we go by the laws, in this case the United States, and the laws say that she should be able to compete," said Trump.
Last week the Miss Universe organization made the controversial decision to disqualify transgender beauty queen Jenna Talackova from competing in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant after it was revealed that she was actually born a he.
23-year-old Talackova was accused of being "dishonest" on her application because the rules state "all contestants must be naturally born females."
But now, in a reversal of its position, the Miss Universe organization says it will allow Talackova to compete.
