Like Jolie, Sharon Osbourne had a double mastectomy after she learned she carried the gene that makes her susceptible to breast cancer. She praised Jolie on Tuesday on The Talk.
"I think she is an amazing woman anyway. So, for Angelina to come out and do this, she is so brave, and she is going to help so many woman. I think it is going to make her sexier than ever," said Osbourne.
And Jolie’s courageous announcement has many other celebrities in the same situation singing her praises.
Even young women, like 24-year-old former Miss America contestant Allyn Rose are considering pre-emptive measures to battle a family history of cancer.
INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander asked Rose, "How important is it that Angelina is speaking out?"
Rose said, "I think it is incredibly important. It is tough being in Hollywood, the entertainment industry where you are judged on your beauty, your vanity. For her to come out and say, 'My life is more important that that. My children are more important than that,' I think it is very commendable."
Former Fox News anchor, E.D. Hill, underwent a preventative double mastectomy three years ago.
She said, "I think what she did is a great public service. For her to come out and say, 'I made the choice, on my terms, and I feel great,' that is really big."
Former CBS Morning anchor Rene Syler didn't have breast cancer or the cancer gene, but had a family history and when she found abnormal cell growth in her breasts she had a pre-emptive double mastectomy.
She said, "I love my life and I want to be around for a long time."
Actress Christina Applegate and E! News channel's Giuliana Rancic decided to have a double mastectomy after they were diagnosed with cancer.
CNN anchor Zoraida Sambolin, was so moved by Jolie's announcement that, she decided to go public on Tuesday and tell the world she has breast cancer and is getting a double mastectomy.
