Thanks to an auction of Marilyn Monroe's medical files, it reveals for the first time that the star had plastic surgery. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Marilyn Monroe is still an icon more than 50 years after her death. Now, there's definitive proof that her beauty was enhanced by plastic surgery.
A file of X-rays and medical records go on the auction block next month and they show Monroe had a chin implant and a nose job.
INSIDE EDITION showed the medical file to Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon Dr. Robert Rey.
Dr. Rey said, "I see irrefutable evidence that she had a rhinoplasty. The X-ray proves to me that a rhinoplasty was done. It looks like he put a little more cartilage here to make the jaw a little more square. Today, we use bone or a silicone implant."
INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney asked Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien’s Auctions, who are selling the X-ray's and documents, “Marilyn Monroe had a nose job?”
Nolan replied, “Yes.”
These doctor's notes written by plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Gurdin in 1958 say he treated Monroe for a chin deformity. The notes reveal in 1950 she had a cartilage chin implant which had slowly been absorbed by her body causing mild flatness of the chin. She was using the name Marilyn Miller. At the time she was married to the playwright Arthur Miller.
Dr. Rey said, "She became even prettier, but at what price? In those days plastic surgery was a little more scary."
X-rays were taken after she suffered a fall in June 1962 and was afraid she had broken her nose. There has been speculation that she suffered that fall while partying with JFK. It was taken the same day she was fired from her final unfinished movie, Something's Got to Give.
Two months later, she was dead and her plastic surgery has remained a secret, until now.
