Woody Allen is calling the accusations that he sexually abused his daughter, Dylan, "untrue and disgraceful." INSIDE EDITION reports on the details.
Woody Allen was stone-faced as he was confronted about new claims by his daughter, Dylan, that he molested her when she was 7-years-old.
A reported asked Allen on the street, “Woody, do you have any comment about Dylan's letter? Do you deny what she said was true?”
But he hit back today, calling his daughter's shocking allegations "untrue and disgraceful" and a spokesman said, "He will be responding very soon."
The scandal could have an impact on the Oscars. HLN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell said, “This should not affect the actors who were involved in the films. This is about Woody Allen’s relationship with these people who are very much entwined and entangled in his life.“
Cate Blanchett, the star of his movie, Blue Jasmine, is considered the front runner for best actress. Allen is also up for best screenplay. But, clearly, some voters might be turned off by his daughter’s claims that he molested her.
Barbara Walters sprang to Allen's defense on The View, saying “She's doing it now because he's up for an award! I have rarely seen a father as sensitive and as loving and as caring as Woody is to these two girls."
This led to a heated confrontation with co-host, Sherri Sheperd. Sheperd exclaimed, “It was his step-daughter he messed around with, Barbara! He married his stepdaughter!”
The two-decade old scandal reignited when Dylan, now 28, alleged in an open letter to the New York Times on Sunday that Woody Allen molested her in an attic room at their home. "Woody Allen is a living testament to the way society fails survivors of sexual abuse," she wrote.
And she took stars who appeared in Woody Allen movies to task, writing: “What if it was your child Cate Blanchett? Alec Balwin?”
Cate Blanchett responded, "It's obviously been a long and painful situation for the family, and I hope they find some resolution and peace."
Alec Baldwin went on a Twitter rant when he was asked by a fan about Dylan's letter. “What the (blank) is wrong w u that u think we all need to b commenting on this family's personal struggle?" he wrote back.
Dylan's allegations were investigated in 1993 and Woody Allen was never charged because of a lack of evidence.
Paul Boyd from INSIDE EDITION said, “There was never any charges brought against him, yet this continues to hang over his head.”
“It’s not something that’s going to end up in criminal courts, but in the court of public opinion, oh yeah, the trial is on!” said Jane Velez-Mitchell.
