The most glamorous night of the year gathered the biggest stars in New York and INSIDE EDITION caught up with them on the red carpet.
It is the most glamorous red carpet in the world. Star power like you've never seen before. Name them, they were there. Beyonce. Rihanna. Sarah Jessica Parker. Charlize Theron, and on and on and on.
The gowns were big, bigger and downright gigantic. And the guys, like actor Johnny Depp went all out. Depp carried a cane, gloves and wore spats.
Check out some fashion highlights from the Met Gala.
Sarah Jessica Parker navigated the red carpet in an elaborate ball gown. Her date was Bravo TV's Andy Cohen. If there was any question who she was wearing, it was embroidered in red—Oscar de la Renta.
INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent asked her, "How long does it take you to get ready?"
Sarah Jessica Parker joked, "Tweny, thirty minutes."

In true Beyoncé form, the star was a showstopper in Givenchy Haute Couture that left little to the imagination. She vamped for the cameras and at one point, lost her ring. But hubby Jay Z came to the rescue, finding it on the red carpet and putting it back on her finger. It looked as if he's asking her to marry him again, and we're certain she said 'Yes!'
Like always, Rihanna showed lots of skin in a white Stella McCartney, stomach showing and lots of back.
Charlize Theron and Sean Penn made their first major red carpet appearance as a couple. She channeled old Hollywood glamor in a strapless black and white Dior.
Actress Gabrielle Union was va-voom in a mid-drift baring, super sexy Prada ensemble. When Trent asked her how long it takes her to get ready, she answered, "Like, an hour. It took me longer to get the shot of tequila."
INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent spoke to actor Hugh Jackman and his wife, Debra Lee about getting ready for such a big night.
Jackman told INSIDE EDITION, "I just thought, I'm going as James Bond. If I can't be him, I'm going to dress like him."
Lupita Nyong'o wore Prada and 12 Years A Slave actor Chiwetel Ejiofor was thrilled to be at the party, telling INSIDE EDITION, "It's my first time [at the party]."
John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen lit up the red carpet. He was in white tie, as requested, she wore Ralph Lauren.
Trent asked, "What's it like for you, no offense, when you wife gets more cheers out here than you do?"
Legend replied, "I'm used to it. Look at her. I'd cheer for her too."
Trent had some fun taking selfies, starting with Sarah Jessica Parker. and while he was taking selfies, a streaker caused excitment on Fifth Avenue outside the tent!
Hayden Panetierre had an oops moment, stumbling down the stairs on the red carpet.
This wasn't just any party. It was opening night for an exhibition at New York City's Metropolitian Museum of Art's newly named Anna Wintour Costume Center, celebrating the famed American designer Charles James.
Most would agree that it doesn't get any bigger or better than the Met Ball.
