It's a surprising revelation from Jerry Seinfeld. He says that he has autism.
The 60-year-old comic legend dropped the bombshell news in an interview with NBC's Brian Williams.
In the interview, he told Williams, "I think, on a very drawn-out scale, I think I'm on the spectrum...Basic social engagement is really a struggle. I'm very literal. When people talk to me and they use expressions, sometimes I don't know what they're saying."
Signs of autism include difficulties communicating and interacting with people, as well as a lack of emotion and eye contact.
The star of the most successful sitcom in TV history now hosts a web show, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.
He says whatever form of autism he has, it's a mild case.
Seinfeld said, "But I don't see it as dysfunctional. I just think of it as an alternate mindset."
INSIDE EDITION spoke to psychologist Dr. Jeffrey Gardere. He contributed to the book, The Cause of Autism: Concepts and Misconceptions.
Dr. Gardere said, "I think Jerry Seinfeld is absolutely courageous. I think this is great news for parents who have children who may have autism, or for the kids themselves who have autism, because it shows you may think different than other people, your brain may be wired different than others, but it doesn't mean that you can't be successful in life."
