Stella was born with six fingers on her left hand and will need surgery.
Mack's boyfriend, Tommy Schaefer, the baby's father, is also accused of murder. He, too, wept when prosecutors announced they would not pursue death by firing squad.
If convicted, Mack is expected to serve 15 years in prison.
