After being suspended for 6 months for exaggerating stories, Brian Williams will not return to the anchor desk but has been given a new job.
Brian Williams will not be returning to the anchor chair at NBC Nightly News.
The anchorman was suspended in February for six months for exaggerating stories about his experiences in a war zone. An internal investigation by NBC reportedly found 10 to 12 additional instances of exaggerating.

Lester Holt, who has been filling in for Williams, will now assume the role full time. Williams is not being fired. He'll be given a role at MSNBC, the network's cable news channel.
Brian Stelter, host of CNN’s Reliable Sources, says there is no way Williams will ever return to the Nightly News desk.
He told INSIDE EDITION, “NBC are proving that second acts are possible!"

Williams begins his new role in mid-August. No word about the pay cut Williams will face. He had been pulling down $10 million a year.
Stelter said, “He was reportedly making $10 million a year. It's hard to image that he would be paid that for his new role.”
It's a big step back for Williams, who skyrocketed to news stardom as an MSNBC anchor way back in 1996.
Williams issues an apology in a statement released by NBC News, "I’m sorry. I said things that weren’t true. I let down my NBC colleagues and our viewers, and i am determined to earn back their trust."
