TMZ reported that the man, who was unable to swim, slipped and fell in the pool and drowned. There was a 'limited amount' of alcohol at the gathering, the website reported.
The preliminary investigation indicated the incident was most likely a tragic accident.
Moore's daughter, Tallulah, recently shared a photograph to Instagram showing her with her sister Scout and their actress mom, 52, at the pool.
None of them were home at the time of the tragedy.
Moore added in a statement: “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man's family and friends."
