A community is paying tribute to a beloved elderly man who waved at motorists each morning as he waited for the mailman.
Norman Hall passed away on July 28 at age 88. But for the two years before his death, he went outside to his mailbox in Bedford Township, Michigan for 30 minutes to greet strangers.
Now an enlarged photograph of him waving stands where he once stood. It bears the message: "See you on the other side."

Flowers have been placed at the site and drivers have been honking as they pass.
A passerby uploaded an image of the memorial to Facebook, where it has been shared 2,600 times.
Dean Weaver, who didn't know Hall personally, shared the post on his profile with a lengthy message.
"His appearance always made me feel happier to be alive, move a bit lighter in my step, and comforted that nice, good people still walk among us," he wrote.

He said that when he saw the cutout image of the man, "I lost my breath and teared up. No longer would my friend be there to greet me."
He added: "Godspeed My Waving Friend. HONK, HONK, HONK, HONK...!!!"
The neighborhood remembered how Hall even went outside to wave during rain, snow and ill health.
"I saw his legs getting weak, but he was so tickled and so happy to be out there," neighbor Louise Hall told The Associated Press.
