He holds up the Ariel doll - from The Little Mermaid - that the boy picked out.
"How do you think a dad feels when his son wants to get this?" he said. "I let my boys choose their life."
He told the little boy: "Choose your expression. Choose what you're into. Choose your sexuality. Choose whatever.
"You have my promise right now, both of you, as we sit in this car, in the hot car, in this parking lot, you have my promise forever to love you and accept you no matter what life you choose."
The video has already been watched more than 14 million times on Facebook.
Since it went viral, Willis, who also has a one-year-old son with his wife Nadia, added that it didn't surprise him that his son picked a doll as he's equally fascinated by princesses and robots.
He wrote on Facebook: "My job as daddy is to provide a safe playing field for my boys to play whatever game they choose."

The video has received both positive and negative comments, and Willis addressed his critics on Facebook.
"Unlike most people, I'm not offended when someone disagrees with me," he wrote. "In fact, I see those moments as an opportunity to expand my understanding of the human race."
After the incredible response to the video, he added: "I see so much negativity being shared through social media that this is my way of bringing a little balance, at least to my friends. To know we've touched people beyond our immediate community is both humbling and awesome!"
