One Kentucky canine is getting ready to make a run for the highest office in the land.
Forget the dog house, this pooch has her sights set on the White House.
Lucy Lou is the canine mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky - a town of just 315 residents - and she's now tossing her collar into the ring for the 2016 presidential race.

Lucy's owner and chief executive of staff, Bobbi Kayser, told The Kentucky Enquirer that she will announce (or bark) her ambitions for higher office and retire as mayor at a town event on September 5.
Lucy has not filed paperwork yet with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) but that may change this weekend.
“Somebody up the road decided most politicians are dogs anyway,” Kayser told Cincinnati.com. “Why not put a real dog in office?”

Lucy is the town’s longest-serving mayor and was voted in on the historic night of November 4, 2008 - “the same night the guy up there in the White House was elected,” Kayser noted.
There is no word yet whether the border collie will run as a Democrat, Republican or Independent.
