Two police officers say they were denied service at a burger joint because of their uniform.
Two police officers say they were denied service earlier this week at a North Texas Whataburger.

The two cops, officer Cameron Beckham and reserve deputy Michael Magovern, were working the overnight traffic shift when they stopped in a Lewisville, Texas Whataburger joint to get something to eat.
According to the cops, workers at the restaurant denied them service and an employee told them: “We don’t serve police officers.”
The cops spoke to KRLD NewsRadio 1080 and told their story.
“Even if he was joking, I’m not going to eat here because I don’t trust that,” said Magovern. “It was just bold for somebody to say that, I’m not going to judge his heart, but it kind of put me off.”
The Whataburger franchise took to Twitter to address the issue
@coderamsey We would never condone this action and this is completely unacceptable. We are working hard to address this as soon as possible.

Magovern told the radio station that the franchise is supportive of law enforcement. “I knew right off the top this was not a Whataburger corporate issue. This was a single location, employee with a problem.”
The officers discussed the matter with the corporate executives and district manager. According to the company, the employee was fired.

Whataburger issued a statement on the situation: “We were appalled to hear of an employee refusing service to two officers, as we have proudly served first responders across our system for decades. As soon as we heard of this isolated incident, we began our own internal investigation overnight. The employee that refused service is no longer employed with Whataburger. We’ve also invited the officers back today so we can apologize in person and make this right.”
