Jennifer Berry, 33, was charged with murder in the second degree and manslaughter in the death of her newborn baby girl.
Officials said the woman who callously threw her newborn baby out of a seventh-floor Bronx apartment window was once employed with the Administration for Child Services.
Jennifer Berry, 33, was charged with murder in the second degree and manslaughter in the death of her newborn baby girl. A police source said the child was found dead on Tuesday in an apartment building alleyway on West 183rd Street with her umbilical cord still attached.

The child — tragically referred to in court documents as “Jane Doe” — had been tossed by Berry only minutes after she was born, prosecutors and police said. An autopsy determined the girl died from multiple blunt-force trauma and her death was labeled a homicide.
Berry worked for ACS from July 2007 to January 2008, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

Sources said Berry’s first three months with the department were spent in classroom-style training for a Child Protective Specialist position. Her remaining time there was spent as a trainee where she was heavily supervised and had a reduced caseload, with limited interaction with families, the source said.
It was not immediately clear why Berry no longer worked for ACS.
Berry was remanded to jail and is scheduled to next appear in court on October 5, a spokesperson for the District Attorney’s office said.
Berry's attorney did not immediately return a call for comment.
