According to a published report, Laurene Jobs called the Hollywood stars in her bid to halt the movie.
Did Steve Jobs' widow try to torpedo the controversial new movie about the Apple founder?
The Hollywood Reporter quotes a source as saying: “Since the very beginning, Laurene Powell Jobs has been trying to kill this movie.”
According to the report, the source also said: "Laurene Jobs called Leonardo DiCaprio and said, 'Don't do it.' Laurene Jobs called Christian Bale and said, 'don't [do it].' "

Both actors were at one point up for the role, which eventually went to Michael Fassbender.
According to the publication, reps for Bale and DiCaprio were “unable to verify that, and Laurene Jobs did not return calls.”
According to the report, an unnamed Sony executive did say: "She reached out; she had a strong desire not to have the movie made. But we said, 'We're going to move forward.' My understanding is, she did call one or two of the actors."
In parts, the movie paints an unflattering picture of Steve Jobs' personal life. The film’s director, Danny Boyle, and screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin, spoke about the controversy on CBS This Morning.
They were asked: “We know that Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple as well as Laurene Jobs, Steve Jobs’ wife, actually went to studios to try and block this movie. How was that pressure?”
Boyle said: “When you believe in something, like the guy himself, when you believe in something, you sometimes have to continue that belief and despite the forces that might be reigned against you.
“When you make your mind up about something, you have to keep your faith in it. When I read it, this felt true.”

Sorkin then later said: “It is not flattering, it is not inaccurate. I believe the important thing to say is that they haven’t seen the movie. Whatever portrait they feel we paint, they are guessing at.”
The movie, Steve Jobs, opens on Friday. It comes on the fourth anniversary of his passing.
This is the second biopic on the late Apple founder. In 2013, Ashton Kutcher starred as the tech figure in the critally panned film, Jobs.
