Argo, a Czech German shepherd with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office since 2009, was honored with the traditional Last Call on Oct. 10.
The ceremony typically sends off officers who've fallen in the line of duty with a final radio call. Argo's final moments were captured in emotional video taken by family members of Argo's partner, Lt. Francisco Guerrero.

"Sheriff's Office to K-9 Argo. Sheriff's Office to K-9 Argo," the police dispatcher said in the video. "Sheriff's Office to K-9 Argo. End of watch for K-9 Argo on Oct. 10, 2015. Rest in peace K-9 Argo."
Nine-year-old Argo was born in the Czech Republic and subsequently acquired by Kreative Kennels in Turlock, California. He joined the Hidalgo Sheriff's Office in 2009.
He was diagnosed with bone cancer after Lt. Guerrero noticed Argo was showing signs he was in pain.

By then, the cancer had spread throughout Argo's body.
Argo kept thousands of pounds of drugs off the streets and helped put countless felons behind bars, according to the department's Facebook page.
A video of Argo's final few moments, after which he was reportedly euthanized, had been viewed nearly 500,000 times as of Tuesday.
