Donald Trump told ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday argued he merely said 'I don't know about it' when discussing Carson's
Donald Trump has refused to apologize for comments he made about opponent Ben Carson's religion.
During a call-in to ABC's This Week on Sunday, the Republican presidential contender merely restated that he doesn't "know about" the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, a hard-line Protestant sect of which Carson is a professed member.
"I didn't say anything bad about it, I just don't know about it," Trump told George Stephanopolous after the host asked if he'd be willing to apologize, as Ben Carson has asked him to do. "I would certainly give an apology if I said something bad about it, but I didn't, all I said was 'I don't know about it.'"

Trump's comments came during a campaign event in Florida, where he sought to draw a contrast between the moderate faith he claims and the less mainstream beliefs held by Dr. Carson, the Washington Post reports.
"I'm Presbyterian. Boy, that's down the middle of the road folks, in all fairness. I mean, Seventh-day Adventist, I don't know about. I just don't know about," Trump said to the crowd in Jacksonville on Saturday.

The comment came after Trump, once the unchallenged Republican frontrunner across the board, appeared to address recent polls that show Carson as much as 9 points ahead of the billionaire in the all important state of Iowa.
“I don’t understand the whole deal,” Trump said about the newest poll data. “I don’t know what’s going on.”
