The boy’s name is Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, they revealed on their website and on TLC.com.
The name is inspired by Charles Spurgeon, a British Baptist preacher who lived from 1834-1892. During his time, he reportedly preached to as many as 10,000 people across Europe. Spurgeon also had a strong opposition to Southern Baptists in America owning slaves.
Charles Spurgeon is also a personal hero of Ben, who told People magazine: “One guy that has really impacted my life is a great preacher of the past, Charles Haddon Spurgeon.”
