Sheriff’s deputies in rural Wisconsin are investigating the brutal rape of a pregnant horse that was attacked on a farm in Waupaca County.
A landowner in New London contacted deputies to report that his horses were acting strangely. After he examined his five-year-old mare, he discovered the pregnant horse was bleeding and injured, according to Sheriff Brad Hardel, Fox News reported.

A phone message left by INSIDE EDITION for the sheriff was not immediately returned.
A vet examined the animal and determined it had been sexually assaulted, possibly with some sort of hobbling device, the sheriff said.
The horse and its foal are expected to be fine, according to authorities.

Hardel issued an alert to neighboring horse farm owners to be especially diligent in monitoring their livestock.
