The child had been home alone Tuesday afternoon when the unit across the hall from her burst into flames. She tried to flee down the hallway, but smoke and flames blocked her way, she said.
She retreated to the balcony as the fire quickly spread.
She and her family lost all their possessions in the blaze that destroyed five other homes and damaged several others, the station reported.
Sofya's mother is grateful to the police officers who told her daughter to jump.
"I want to thank them. I didn't believe this could happen, but it happened, and thank you for saving my child," said Yulia Doroshenko.
The fire apparently started in the condo of an elderly woman who was cooking, authorities said.
