A Southern California man has been arrested after police say he took a Corvette on a test drive while high on drugs, leaving the vehicle wrapped around a tree and the salesman dead.
On Tuesday afternoon, police arrived to the scene to find the red sportscar had collided with a tree. Inside, a salesman from a CarMax dealership and the driver were both found injured.
The salesman, 43-year-old Warren Smale, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

The driver, 38-year-old Alex Demetros, was arrested by Ontario police and charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs, according to online San Bernardino Sheriff's Office records. The extent of his injuries were unknown.
Witnesses told police the driver was going at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident--at least 70 mph, according to KTLA.
It was not clear if Demetros appeared under the influence prior to the test drive. Police do not believe he'd been drinking alcohol before the test drive.
Meanwhile, a makeshift memorial appeared for Smale at the crash site.

"It was so surreal. I didn’t believe it at first," Smale's co-worker, Artiee Guerrero, told KCBS. "He was an amazing, amazing person. He was like a father to all of us. That’s why we’re all here together… we’re all family."
CarMax issued a statement, which read: "Today is an incredibly sad day for the CarMax family. Our hearts and prayers go out to our colleague's family. CarMax is working closely with local authorities."
Investigators said the case is ongoing.
