Long lines formed outside the area as fans waited to get in.

Once they reached the entrances, supporters had to pass through metal detectors operated by uniformed TSA agents. Secret Service, and local cops and state troopers were placed throughout the Crown Colosseum.

Trump took the stage to thunderous applause. But within minutes, demonstrators started shouting. The GOP front-runner was interrupted 17 times by protesters.

As the night wore on, the crowd and Trump became more impatient with the hecklers.

“In the good old days this doesn't happen. They used to treat them very rough. They protested once, they get away with murder. We've become weak. We've become very, very weak,” the real estate tycoon said.

Tensions were also high outside, where Trump supporters and opponents faced off in the parking lot.

One supporter told IE the clashes "stupid" and "counterproductive." She added: "It is not helping our country become great again."
