Convicted Sex Offender Who Infected 23-Month-Old Niece and Teen With HIV Gets Life in Prison

Convicted sex offender gets life in prison for raping and infecting toddler, 14-year-old, with HIV.

A convicted sex offender will spend the rest of his life behind bars for raping his toddler niece and the teen daughter of an ex-girlfriend, and infecting them both with HIV, a Texas jury has ruled.

David Wilson, who has already served time for sexually assaulting a child in 2005, was convicted and sentenced Thursday with sexually assaulting his 23-month-old niece and the 14-year-old daughter of a former girlfriend, KTRK-TV reported.

The toddler was raped last year, according to court documents, while the child was staying with relatives including her uncle. The baby was taken to a doctor in November and diagnosed with HIV, genital herpes and chlamydia.

The child underwent constructive surgery because her genitals were badly infected, the court heard.

The 14-year-old told investigating child welfare workers she had been having sex with Wilson since she was 12. She also tested positive for HIV, herpes and chlamydia. She is also pregnant, authorities said.

It took jurors about an hour to decide Wilson should be sentenced to life in prison, after reaching guilty verdicts on Thursday.

Wilson cried in court as their decisions were read.
