Lambert, who split from ex-husband, Blake Shelton in July, faced an uncomfortable moment as he sang a song inspired by his divorce and new girlfriend, Gwen Stefani.
Also at the show, was Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan and country music “It Girl” Kelsea Ballerini, who was thrilled to be performing with Nick Jonas.
"I am so excited,” she told IE’s Megan Alexander before the show.
One of the biggest moments of the night came when icon Dolly Parton performed her classics “Jolene” and “9 to 5” with Katy Perry.
Parton told IE: "Getting to sing with her is fun."

The country music legend is getting ready to hit the road this summer with a new tour called "Dolly: Pure and Simple." She told IE: "I missed touring. It has been 25 years since I have done a major tour in Canada and the U.S."
While the night was full of surprises, it was topped with Jason Aldean winning the big prize – “Entertainer of the Year.”
