Suffolk County, New York authorities say the friendly German shepherd was dumped along the road sometime this weekend.
Authorities in New York are offering $2,000 to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of a dog owner who taped a German shepherd's muzzle shut and dumped him.
The Suffolk County SPCA were notified Saturday by area police that a male dog was walking helplessly alongside a Long Island highway with his mouth duct-taped shut.
"To leave this dog unable to eat or drink, abandoned and frightened on a busy road is just heartbreaking," Suffolk Co. SPCA chief Roy Gross said in a statement.

The 2 or 3 year old animal was found alongside the Mauntauk Highway, a main artery stretching across the southern shore of Long Island.
Gross told NBC the pooch is "the kind of dog who if he ran away on his own, he would walk right up to you.
"I can say whoever did this is a truly heartless individual."

Rescuers believe the dog had likely only been in that condition for a few hours when he was picked up and taken to an area shelter.
Now Gross and the SPCA are hoping a monetary reward can help right this wrong.
The group is offering $2,000 to anyone who offers information that leads to the arrest and conviciton of the person who commited the "heinous act of animal cruelty."
