Ivanka, 34, and her brother, 32, missed the deadline to register with a political party, which makes them ineligible to cast a vote next week.

On Monday morning, Donald Trump told Fox and Friends: "They were unaware of the rules and they didn't register in time. So Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won't be voting."

He added: “They had a long time to register and they were unaware of the rules so they feel very, very guilty. They feel very guilty, but it’s fine. I understand that.”

In New York, only those affiliated with a party are allowed to vote.

The registration deadline in New York for voters changing party affiliations was October 9, 2015. The deadline to register as a new voter was March 25.

According to ABC News, records from the New York State Board of Elections show that the Trump siblings are registered voters but are “not enrolled in a party.”

Trump’s oldest son, 38-year-old Donald Jr., is a registered Republican.
