The U.S. Coast Guard came to the rescue of a teenage girl adrift in a kayak.
Coast Guard rescuers found a teenage girl who drifted for hours Sunday night after becoming separated from her family during a kayak outing the Gulf of Mexico.

Helped by night-vision equipment, a Coast Helicopter spied the girl floating in waters off Tarpon Springs, Florida, at about 10 p.m., officials said.
Her family reported her missing at 6 p.m. when she failed to return to their departure point. Officials launched a water and air search.
She drifted for several hours after the wake from a passing boat knocked her paddle overboard, she told Coast Guard rescuers.

After she was spotted by helicopter personnel, a Coast Guard boat was dispatched to pick her up.
Aside from mild hypothermia, she was in good condition and was reunited with her family, officials said.
