Wilbert Bourque Jr., was driving the mower Sunday night on a public road, with another man on the hood and a third in a wheelchair hanging on from behind, police said.
A truck headed in the same direction hit them from the rear, according to Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly, CBS affiliate KLFY-TV reported.

Bourque died later at a nearby hospital. The other two men were listed in stable condition, the station reported.
Police are investigating the incident.
