An estimated 27,000 people packed into Washington Square Park in New York on Wednesday night to hear Bernie Sanders speak.

The Vermont senator and New York native was so surprised by the amount of people he said: “There are a lot of people here tonight!”
Some climbed trees to get a better look.
The event was hosted by actress Rosario Dawson and director Spike Lee.
Dawson, who wore a leather jacket that had Sanders’ face airbrushed on it, told the crowd that she was distrustful of the mainstream media, calling it “a culture of propaganda” and believes that Sanders is the only honest politician running.
She added: “We have an opportunity with our vote this coming Tuesday. Too many people have already died for us to have the right to vote, and too many people have already died already because of some of the people who are running.”
Actor Tim Robbins also stumped for Sanders at the event.
“Times have changed. Bernie is not the obliging progressive candidate who will keep the left in line until the [mainstream] nominee emerges,” Robbins said. “We are done with that.”

Spike Lee drove his thoughts home, saying: “The status quo has got to go!”
Earlier this week, Lee produced a campaign ad for Sanders.
Sanders, has been getting surprising support from unions across the country wore a badge from the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. It comes after he participated in a strike alongside Verizon workers on Wednesday.
