James Troy May allegedly told police that he shot his father after the elderly man became violent during an argument.
A Florida man went to sleep after he fatally shot his elderly father, waiting until after he awoke to call the police, authorities said.
What had started as an all-day disagreement Friday between James Troy May and his 89-year-old father, Jack May, became deadly when the son pulled out a gun during an argument, officials said.
May, 52, allegedly told cops that his father had been complaining all day and eventually became violent.
It was at that point May allegedly said he grabbed a gun and shot his father, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said.
After shooting his father, May went to sleep, he allegedly told police.
He called 911 to report the shooting after he woke up, authorities said.
