A North Carolina couple who appeared on a popular HGTV home makeover show are suing its producers, claiming contractors damaged their home.
Deena Murphy and Timothy Sullivan's house was the subject of a Love It or List It episode last year.
During the show, viewers saw the home being renovated before the couple was forced to decide whether to keep or sell it.
Murphy and Sullivan's lawsuit argues that the work left their home's floor "irreparably damaged” with holes left from duct work “through which vermin could enter the house."

Instead, the lawsuit says the show used local contractor Aaron Fitz Construction for the home's overhaul. The lawsuit says Murphy and Sullivan voiced their concerns about below- average ratings they had seen for the company on Angie’s List, notes the News & Observer.
Aaron Fitzgerald, owner of Aaron Fitz Construction, was not available for comment Tuesday afternoon.

The lawsuit also claims that part of the deal with Big Coat TV, the show's Canada-based production company, was the couple would put down a $140,000 deposit for the work. However, the suit says the production company disbursed only $85,786.50 of that amount.
Maria Armstrong, CEO and executive producer at Big Coat TV, denied the couple's allegations.
"We believe that this claim is in no way supported by any of the facts of the case, and we will be defending ourselves vigorously in this matter.”
James White, attorney for Murphy and Sullivan, said the the couple signed a confidentiality agreement could not discuss the case outside the courtroom.
