A social change is coming to American currency.
The $20 bill is getting a face lift.
Former slave and abolitionist Harriet Tubman will replace former president and slave owner Andrew Jackson on $20 notes.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew announced the change on Wednesday, calling it the most symbolic makeover of American money in a century .
Jackson will still appear on the notes, but on the back in a smaller size.
Alexander Hamilton will remain on the $10 and Abraham Lincoln will remain on the $5. In addition to Tubman, women and civil rights leaders will be added to the back of $5 and $10 notes by 2020.

Tubman will be the first African-American to be featured on American currency. She is also the second female to be featured on paper notes. Martha Washington was briefly on a special $1 silver note that was printed between 1896 and 1957.
Tubman becomes thanks the fourth woman ever to be featured on American currency. Following Martha Washington on the $1 bill, between 1979 and 1981 the Treasury minted a dollar coin featuring Susan B. Anthony and since 2000, a gold dollar coin featuring Sacagawea.
