Meteorologist Says She Was Not Ordered by Station to Put on Sweater, Says It Was All a 'Joke'

"I was not ordered by KTLA to put on the sweater. I was simply playing along with my co-anchor's joke," she wrote.

It may be difficult to predict the weather, but a TV meteorologist should have seen this storm coming.

Liberté Chan has opened up about being asked to cover up while she was giving her weather report over the weekend.

She took to her blog to write: “For the record, I was not ordered by KTLA to put on the sweater. I was simply playing along with my co-anchor’s joke, and if you’ve ever watched the morning show, you know we poke fun at each other all the time.”

The KTLA meteorologist was wearing a sequin dress when there was uproar from viewers who said she needed to cover up during the Saturday morning weather report.

One of her colleagues handed her a gray cardigan sweater, which she put it on before noting she looked like “a librarian.”

After the incident, vilified viewers then bashed the network, saying she had been shamed and humiliated on air.

“You guys are idiots for embarrassing your meteorologist,” one wrote.

Chan wrote on her blog: “My bosses did not order me to put on the cardigan, it was a spontaneous moment.. I truly love my job, I like my bosses and enjoy working with my coworkers. Since talking to my team, I want our viewers to know it was never our intention to offend anyone. We are friends on and off the air and if you watch our newscast, you know that.”
