The online auction for the gun George Zimmerman used to kill Trayvon Martin has ended, with an apparent final bid of $138,000, according to reports.

Zimmerman, who used the firearm to kill the unarmed 17-year-old in Florida in 2012, was slammed for his decision to auction it off.
He first listed the gun last week on another website, GunBroker.com, before it was taken down. Another auction led to fake bids topping $65 million under names such as "Racist McShootFace."
The new auction started on UnitedGunGroup.com Tuesday and the final offer on Wednesday was made under the name "John Smith," Reuters reported.
In a statement posted to Twitter after the bidding ended, United Gun Group said: "George Zimmerman has informed United Gun Group that he currently is in the process of vetting several offers and verifying funds."
Zimmerman, 32, wrote on his own website that the "process of notifying the winning bidder will begin immediately."
"I would like to thank and give the glory to God for a successful auction that has raised funds for several worthy causes," he wrote.
Proceeds from the sale would go to fight Black Lives Matter “violence against Law Enforcement officers,” to “ensure the demise” of the career of the State Attorney who charged him in Martin’s death and to end “Hillary Clinton's anti-firearm rhetoric,” Zimmerman previously wrote.
Calling the weapon “a piece of American History” when he first listed the firearm last week, Zimmerman said many had expressed interest in owning it, including The Smithsonian.
The museum discredited this claim, saying in a statement: “The Smithsonian has never expressed interest in collecting George Zimmerman’s firearm. The Smithsonian has no plans to ever collect or display this object in any of its museums.”
Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in Martin's shooting.
