Little Jackson Roberts was riding in a parking garage elevator when he fell through a gap between the shaft wall and the lift's car.
A 4-year-old boy died after falling three stories down an elevator shaft of a New York parking garage that he was riding in with his mother and father, authorities said.
Little Jackson Roberts was in the elevator at 841 Union Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn, at about 8 p.m. Wednesday when he fell through a gap between the shaft wall and the lift’s car, cops said.
Jackson’s father told investigators that the boy had walked away from his parents when he fell nearly 50 feet from the third floor, according to a police source.
Emergency responders rushed Jackson to New York Methodist Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries Thursday, officials said.

“The boy is a good boy — he’s an angel,” a tearful Alice Soriano, who said she was Jackson’s nanny, told The New York Daily News. “Everybody’s shocked because yesterday he’s in the park, and now he’s gone. I can’t believe that he’s gone.”
No criminality is suspected in Jackson’s death, but police are still investigating the incident.
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has requested an inspection of the property, according to the Department of Buildings website.
"The Department of Buildings ordered that the elevator cannot be operated again until a full-time security guard is hired to ensure security of the device," a spokesman told InsideEdition.com.

Neighborhood residents can buy individual spots in the parking garage, which are estimated to retail at about $280,000 according to a recent real estate listing.
The elevator was a freight elevator meant for cars and not for use by the public, a source said.
Attendants usually bring vehicles to the ground floor for residents, but Jackson’s parents allegedly wanted to get something from their car, so the attendant made an exception and went up with them, a source said.
