Christina Grimmie had just finished a concert in Florida when a gunman opened fire then turned th egun on himself.
A former contestant on The Voice was shot and killed outside a Florida concert on Saturday.
Christina Grimmie, 22, was signing autographs following a performance in Orlando when a gunman opened fire.
Police said in a statement that Grimmie's younger brother then tackled the shooter, who turned the gun on himself and died from a self-inflicted bullet wound.
Authorities credited the brother with preventing the shooter from harming anyone else.
Grimmie, who placed third in the sixth season of The Voice, had just finished a performance along with the boy band Before You Exit.
The Orlando Police Department confirmed Grimmie was shot--and later, that she died--on its Twitter page.
Police have not identified a motive in the attack.
Grimmie was part of Adam Levine's team on the game show in 2014.
The Maroon 5 singet reacted to the senseless tragedy on Instagram.
"I'm sad, shocked and confused. We love you so much Grimmie. We are all praying hard that you can pull through this...this just isn't fair," levine wrote.

In the hours after Grimmie was shot, the hashtag #PrayforChristina began to trend across social media. After news of the singer's death hit, the hashtag changed to #RIPChristina.
The offical The Voice Twitter page photo was changed to black in a apparent nod to the young up and comer.
