Mateen was caught on hidden camera for the 2012 documentary, The Big Fix, about the notorious 2010 BP oil spill and he can be heard blasting the cleanup of the Gulf Coast.
“No one gives a s*** here,” he said in the film. Everybody's just out to get paid. They're like hoping for more oil to come out and more people to complain so they'll have jobs. They want more disaster to happen.”
The security company he worked for, G4S, has confirmed to CBS News that the man in the film is Mateen.
