Omar Mateen was sending his wife text messages while the Pulse nightclub was under siege.
Omar Mateen and his wife, Noor, exchanged text messages during the Pulse nightclub massacre early Sunday morning, according to a report.

A law enforcement official told CNN Thursday that Mateen asked his wife if she had seen any reports of the shooting on TV.
The law enforcement official told CNN that Noor told Mateen she loved him via text. A separate source added that she attempted to call him a few times during the shooting spree that left 49 people dead and 53 others wounded.
The timing of her calls to him came after reports that the shooting occurred and she realized that he might be the shooter. According to officials, Mateen only texted, and never verbally spoke to his wife.
The news comes as it was revealed warning signs about Mateen stretch as far back as his years in elementary school.
A teacher's report starting when he was 5 years old called Omar Mateen “below average, manipulative, rude, aggressive” and constantly talking about “violence and sex.”
He was a disciplined an astonishing 31 times in just 7 years when he was a child.

The most serious incident happened when Mateen was 14 years old. He had a violent outburst in the middle of a math class. Without any provocation he attacked a classmate, repeatedly striking him on the head. As a punishment, he was ordered to visit a prison as part of as scared straight program.
