A couple from Savannah had the unique opportunity to tie the knot underwater in an aquarium while surrounded by friends, family and fish.
A couple from Georgia had the unique opportunity to tie the knot underwater in an aquarium while surrounded by friends, family and fish.
Dr. Jamie Craine and Blake Baker, of Savannah, met and fell in love on the island of St. Kitts, where Baker was going to medical school and Dr. Craine was in vet school.
It was also on the Caribbean island that the couple discovered their love for diving, a pastime that has been a staple in their lives together ever since.
“We met on the island and did a lot of diving together. I helped Blake get certified. Diving has been a big part of our relationship from the beginning,” Dr. Craine told InsideEdition.com.
Their love for the sea came together perfectly when they decided to say their vows underwater at the Audubon Aquarium in New Orleans.
Dr. Craine said the actual ceremony was held at St. Patrick’s Church, and the reception took place at the aquarium, complete with a wedding dress, cake and a first dance before the couple took their underwater plunge.
“Everybody was beyond excited. It was a mixture of everything, and we were thankful to be able to get in the right place at the right time and get good pictures,” Dr. Craine said.
The couple, decked out in scuba gear, shared their first kiss as husband and wife in a tunnel portion of the tank, and happily held up a sign that said ‘Just Married’ to friends and family who watched through the aquarium glass.
The bride even got to wear her wedding ring, bridal veil and bouquet in the tank to top off the special occasion, as stingrays and tropical fish whirled by.

Dr. Craine tells InsideEdition.com that the moment was something that captured the essence of the couple’s relationship in the most perfect way.
“It really showed our personalities. The next day we even went wakeboarding in the water. It was just something that we really looked forward to and the dive master getting us in the water and the fish that were in the water was so special,” Dr. Craine said.
