Malia Obama celebrated her 18th birthday during the Obama's final Fourth of July party.
This doting dad is not one to spare his daughter some embarrassment on her birthday, even if he is the president of the United States.
Malia Obama celebrated her 18th birthday during the White House’s Fourth of July party with special guests Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe.

But it was her father who stole the show when he broke into song.
"It's a job of a father to embarrass his daughters; I've got one last job.” President Obama joked. "It just so happens we celebrate our country’s birthday on the same day we celebrate my eldest daughter’s birthday."
President Obama then serenaded his daughter with his own rendition of the iconic “Happy Birthday” tune and embraced her in an affectionate hug.
Lamar and Monáe continued the celebration and performed some of their hits, and even had singer Jidenna join them onstage.
Monáe paid tribute to the late musical icon, Prince, by performing the late singer's "Let’s Go Crazy."
During the festivities, the president extended warm ‘thank yous’ to military veterans and their families for their bravery and keeping the country safe.

Toward the end of the celebration, Obama gave a heartwarming speech about the true meaning of Independence Day.
“And so on a day like this we celebrate, we have fun, marvel at everything that's been done before," he said, "but we also have to recommit ourselves to making sure that everybody in this country is free; that everybody has opportunity; that everybody gets a fair shot; that we look after all of our veterans when they come home; that we look after our military families and give them a fair shake; that every child has a good education. That is what we should be striving for on Independence Day."
Malia will begin her first year at Harvard University in the fall of 2017.
