Saturday marks the 17th anniversary of John F. Kennedy, Jr.’s 1999 death, and an upcoming documentary promises to shed light on the Camelot heir the public did not see.

The trailer for the upcoming Spike TV documentary, I Am JFK Jr., has been released and it features his tight circle of close friends who knew all his secrets.
Rose Marie Terenzio knew him as well as anyone. She was his loyal executive assistant for the last five years of his life.
“I ran his life, basically," she told Inside Edition. "I was staying in his apartment the night his plane went down because my air conditioning was broken, so, he was like 'go stay at our place.'"
Everybody wanted to hang around with Kennedy, from Mike Tyson to Cindy Crawford to Ann Coulter. He was also buddies with his New York City neighbor Robert De Niro, who said in the film: “He lived his life the way he wanted to live his life.”

The documentary shows never-before-seen footage showing President Kennedy’s son when he was a toddler in The White House.
Terenzio told Inside Edition: "John was never not famous and it never was burden to him."
I Am JFK Jr. also has footage of a confrontation between Kennedy and his wife Carolyn Bessette in a New York City park.
Terenzio said the couple were not tumultuous, instead, saying: "they had a lot of fun. They were buddies."
Kennedy his wife and her older sister, Lauren, were all killed in a plane crash in 1999 off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard.
I Am JFK Jr. will air August 1 on Spike TV.
