When a school teacher was sent to prison for having sex with a student, the nation was shocked. 14 years later, they're still together and now she's a grandmother! INSIDE EDITION has the story.
The words of regret are coming from the schoolteacher who shocked the world when she had an affair with her 13-year-old student.
On the Today Show, Mary Kay Letourneau says, "So, I guess, well of course, ideally, wouldn't it be great if we'd waited?"
Mary Kay Letourneau and Villy Fillau are still together, 14 years and two children later. Believe it or not, Mary Kay is now a grandmother at 48.
Mary Kay Letourneau's grown son Steve Leatourneau has a newborn daughter, named Ava.
Letourneau seemed awkward in a Today Show interview with Meredith Viera. While her 27-year-old husband seemed more at ease.
Viera asks, "What do you have in common?"
Fillau replies, "What do we have in common?"
Letourneau adds, "Uhhhh."
"Besides that we're human beings?" says Fillau.
Lillian Glass, a body language expert says, " Mary Kay Letourneau is very nervous. It is still hard for her to deal with and to talk about what happened in the past. Where as with Villi he has dealt with it and is very mature."
Letourneau pleaded guilty to two counts of child rape in 1997. She spent seven years behind bars. And it seems that the magic is still there for this most unusual couple.
