Jackson Grubb's body was discovered on Saturday by his sister.
A 9-year-old boy was found dead in his West Virginia home after he apparently took his own life after months of torment by schoolmates, his devastated family said.
Jackson Grubb’s body was discovered in his bedroom Saturday by his sister at their Soak Creek home. She had entered the room in an attempt to cheer him up with a frog she found outside, relatives told WVVA.
His injuries appeared to be self-inflicted, police said, and an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
The little boy, a third grader at Sophia Soak Creek Elementary School who family lovingly referred to as “Action Jackson,” had typically fought back against those who picked on him, but he had reportedly not been acting like himself in recent weeks.
All the while, Jackson dealt with bullies who would wait outside his home and make problems for him at school, family said.
“I miss my baby brother,” his heartbroken sister wrote on Facebook. “I wish he was here today. Fly high brother we miss you so so much … and we all love you … STOP THE BULLYING NOW.”
Loved ones were left stunned by Jackson’s death, unable to come to terms with the loss of such a young boy.
“I'm not sure what to say but I lost my boy this afternoon and I'm crushed, I will miss him so very much my Action Jackson!” Jackson’s grandmother and guardian, Betsy Baber, wrote on Facebook. “Please keep us in your prayers, I need all the prayers I can get and his brothers and sisters are needing your prayers.”
His uncle, Shane Baber, wrote to Jackson personally, posting on social media: “I want him to know that his Uncle Shane loves him wholeheartedly and he was my Action Jackson, I don't know why God took you so early but you will remain in my heart always. I love you bubba.”

Similar messages of grief and sympathy were left on a GoFundMe page created to offset costs for Jackson’s burial.
“Never understand why the world makes it so much easier to be a bully and yet so much HARDER to be a friend to someone,” one donor posted. “That is not right. We are all grieving with the Grubb Family in this dark time, may his light shine onto others affected by bullies. Bullies shame on you. Jackson, may you now be in PEACE.”
The Sophia Soak Creek Elementary School and the Raleigh County School District has not responded to InsideEdition.com's request for comment.
