After video of him singing The Righteous Brothers’ timeless “Unchained Melody” went viral on YouTube, it got the attention of Late Late Show host James Corden, who invited him to perform on Wednesday’s show.

“It has had over 40 million hits in a week, this guy has gone from singing on the subway to being a genuine international sensation. I was desperate to find out who he was and find out his name,” Corden said.

Corden flew the New Yorker to Hollywood to perform. Accompanied by a guitarist, Yung didn’t just wow the crowd, but the host himself, who watched with his hands covering his mouth most of the time.

Corden, who had a visible smile when he was not covering his mouth, then spoke to the singer after the inspiring performance.

“Mike, what’s it been like since that video was posted online?” Corden asked.

“It’s been awesome, man,” the 56-year-old said. “I got to meet you!”
